Gamvik Museum

Showcasing a dramatic history

Gamvik Museum is located in the former "Brodtkorbbruket" fish depot. The facility is one of the few well-preserved reconstruction-era fish factories in Finnmark. An important part of the exhibitions includes the museum building's former function and history.

The exhibition presents archeology and settlement history, the witch trials at Omgang, ocean rescue, natural resources, homemaking, the Sea Sami, hunting and wildlife, whaling through the ages, the Pomor trade, wartime, scorched earth and reconstruction, and fishing life.
